SPIDER is the counterpart to the MOSAIC platform. Built on a simple 5” platform this quad copter as a standalone system is quite simple. It offers users the ability to greater explore and investigate terrain and infrastructure in addition to expanding the mission radius of the MOSAIC platform.
SPIDER comes equipped with a FPV camera relaying real time video back to the user. Similarly, it is equipped with standard GPS and autonomous flight capabilities. What separates SPIDER is the critical areas when deploying from a larger system: takeoff and landing.
In these critical moments there is the greatest risk of failure and damage to one or both systems. To resolve this SPIDER has been outfitted with an onboard companion computer and a downward facing camera that uses visual fiduciary technology to guide the vehicle during takeoff and landing sequences.
